Middlesboro man arrested on possession of matter involving sexual performance by minor

Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch Detectives along with KSP Troopers, assisted by Middlesboro Police, executed a search warrant at a residence on Winchester avenue at 3:00 pm on Wednesday October 2, 2019.


While we are waiting on the press release from the E-Crimes Branch for further details, we do know - according to the citation - that during the search of the home, electronic devices belonging to 42 year old Jason Lee Laws of Middlesboro were seized. A preliminary review of the devices yielded at least (20) twenty images of child exploitation.


Jason Lee Laws was arrested at 4:00 pm and transported to the Bell County Detention Center. Laws has been charged with (20) counts of possession/viewing of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor.


According to KRS 531.335, for which laws has been charged, a person is guilty of possession or viewing of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor when, having knowledge of its content, character, and that the sexual performance is by a minor, he or she:


(a) Knowingly has in his or her possession or control any matter which visually depicts an actual sexual performance by a minor person; or


(b) Intentionally views any matter which visually depicts an actual sexual performance by a minor person.


This is a Class D felony.
