Middlesboro man fleeing police stabs a man in his way

From The Middlesboro Police Department -

James Fuston - BCDC

On Friday January 3, 2020 Middlesboro Police report that Officer Nick Capps made contact with an individual later identified as 34 year old James Fuston of Middlesboro due to a report of him acting very erratic. While Officer Capps was speaking to him to verify his identity, Fuston fled on foot.

While running from the officer, Fuston pulled out two knives and stabbed an uninvolved male in his path. The victim received a serious wound to the neck area.

Officers Capps, Sgt. Clay Hurd, and Lt. Josh Burchett continued the foot chase and were ultimately able to take Fuston into custody a short distance away using their tasers.

The stabbing victim was transported to the Middlesboro ARH for serious, but what appears to be, non-life-threatening injuries.

James Fuston was charged with assault -1st degree, resisting arrest, fleeing or evading police (on foot) - 2nd degree, and he was served an outstanding bench warrant for a probation violation.

He is being lodged in the Bell County Detention Center.
