Middlesboro Police arrest a local sex offender for parole violation and intimidating a witness

Middlesboro Police arrested a local sex offender on Thursday, July 22, 2021.


54-year-old Freddie Melvin Jones of Middlesboro was taken into custody by Middlesboro Police Officer Jeremiah Johnson at a Salisbury Avenue residence just after noon. A a parole violation warrant was served on Jones for failure to comply with substance abuse treatment.


Jones was also charged by Officer Brad Fuson with intimidation of a witness in the legal process. The citation read that Jones attempted to influence, induce, be absent, or alter the individual's statement in a previous case against him. That case involved Jones not being compliant with the sex offender registry.


On April 5th WRIL reported that for some time, Middlesboro Police were actively seeking Jones, who is listed on the Kentucky lifetime sex offender registry. At the time, he was aware that police were looking for him for a violation of the sex offender registry and theft of identity of another without consent. After being lodged in the Bell County Detention Center in April he was also charged with resisting arrest.


Freddie Jones is scheduled to be back in court on August 20, 2021.
