A woman arrested in January by Middlesboro Lt./Detective Barry Cowan for trafficking Methamphetamine was in Bell County Circuit for a probation violation hearing and arraignment on a serious new charge on Thursday March 19th.
As we previously reported, 31-year-old Bethany L. Miracle of Middlesboro was arrested on January 28th charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (Methamphetamine) after Middlesboro Police executed a search warrant at her residence on Old Pineville Pike. During the execution of the search warrant, officers located suspected Methamphetamine along with evidence indicative of drug trafficking.
Prior to this incident, Lt. Cowan arrested Miracle in August of 2025 after she was found in possession of a large quantity of methamphetamine during a traffic stop. She was given the opportunity to enter a rehabilitation program, but fled shortly after arriving. A warrant was subsequently issued for her arrest.
Following her departure from treatment, Miracle quickly resumed trafficking Methamphetamine. Lt./Det. Cowan conducted multiple controlled purchases of methamphetamine from Miracle in the weeks leading up to the recent search warrant, further supporting her history of drug trafficking.
On February 24, 2026, after the death of her unborn child, a Bell County Grand Jury returned a true bill on Miracle for criminal facilitation of fetal homicide in the first degree as presented by Bell County Detective Hunter Luttrell.
The indictment reads: "(Miracle) created a grave risk of death to an unborn child, and leaving court ordered rehabilitation, smoking Methamphetamine, a stimulant with known risk factor to an unborn child, knowing that she was pregnant.
She is currently lodged in the Bell County Detention Center
