Kentucky State Police Public Affairs Trooper Shane Jacobs states that Kentucky State Police Post 10 received a call at 10:40 am Wednesday morning January 24, 2024, from Harlan Police Department after locating a deceased male near railroad tracks in the Sunshine community.
In addition to the Harlan Police Department, KSP and Harlan County Deputies responded to the scene finding a missing Harlan County man identified as 34-year-old Jerry Foley. Mr. Foley was last seen in the Mary Alice community on January 15th.
Mr. Foley's body is being sent to the state Medical examiner's office in Frankfort for an autopsy. Once the cause of death has been determined, it will be released by Kentucky State Police.
Also on scene were Harlan County Coroner John Derrick Noe and Deputy Coroner John Jones.
Detective Jonathan Ledford is in charge of the investigation.
