More charges on Colinger

Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff’s Detective Kyle Gray along with Detective Sgt. Chris Edwards, Capt. Kevin Berry, and Detective Daniel Grigsby placed additional charges on Danny Ray Colinger age 32 of Corbin on Monday afternoon March 18, 2019 at approximately 12:45 PM.


The additional charges were the result of a continuing investigation conducted by the Laurel County Sheriff’s office where it was determined that allegedly this individual had sexual intercourse with a female juvenile victim on multiple occasions in multiple locations. Danny Ray Colinger was charged with rape – first-degree; sodomy – first-degree; unlawful transaction with a minor – third-degree; wanton endangerment – second-degree; sexual abuse – first-degree.

Last week on March 8 this individual was arrested off Robert E Cox Road approximately 8 miles South of London following an investigation conducted by the Laurel County Sheriff’s office after detectives conducted an investigation regarding a female juvenile sexual assault complaint. Detectives conducted an investigation then and learned that allegedly this individual had provided alcoholic beverages to a total of six juveniles or persons under the age of 21 on three different occasions and had allegedly admitted sexual contact with a female juvenile. On that arrest this individual was charged with six counts of unlawful transaction with a minor – third-degree; two counts of sexual abuse – first-degree; wanton endangerment – second-degree. Social services has continued to assist the Laurel County Sheriff’s office with this case.


Danny Ray Colinger remains lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center. As the investigation continues more charges are expected. Multiple other agencies are also investigating.
