Update - Pedestrian struck in Lee County, Va.

From WCYB

A pedestrian was airlifted to Holston Valley Medical Center after being hit by a vehicle in Lee County Monday morning.

Virginia State Police said the incident happened just before 5:30 on U.S. 58-A between Dryden and Pennington Gap. The trooper on scene said the victim has been identified as a male, but no name or condition has been released.

According to troopers, a box truck was traveling in the westbound lanes when the driver swerved to miss a pedestrian kneeling in the road. Troopers say the truck grazed the pedestrian. He has now been transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Virginia State Police said charges are pending in the case, but said the driver involved would not face charges.
