From The Barbourville Police Department

On Friday, March 15, 2019 at approximately 07:44 AM, Patrolman Karl Middleton of the Barbourville Police Department attempted a traffic stop on a 2006 Pontiac G6 Gray for several traffic violations on South Main Street.
As Patrolman Middleton approached the vehicle the driver took off at a high rate of speed. Patrolman Middleton began pursuing the vehicle down Edgewood Drive and onto South KY 11 at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle continued onto KY 1809 to KY 92 and headed east toward Bell County where the driver lost control in a curve, hit the embankment, and overturned the car. After taking the two subjects into custody and obtaining their identity, it was determined that the passenger had escaped from the Knox County Detention Center just prior to the traffic stop being initiated. One of the subjects was transported to Barbourville ARH by Bell County EMS for treatment. The following subjects were arrested, charged, and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

22 year old Devin T. Mills, of Girdler, was arrested and charged with Fleeing of Evading Police 1st, Wanton Endangerment 1st (4 counts), Escape 2nd, Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 1st, Speeding 26MPH or more, Reckless Driving, Failure to wear seatbelt, Obstructed Windshield, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct 1st, Failure to or improper signal, No Registration Receipt, No Registration Plate, Failure to produce Insurance Card.

37 year old Bobby Hamilton, of Pineville, was arrested and charged with Escape 2nd, Fleeing or evading Police 1st, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct 1st.
Hamilton had been taken into custody on February 6, 2019 for drug charges among others.
Patrolman Karl Middleton and Eric Martin are continuing the investigation. Chief Winston Tye, Patrolman Adam Townsley, Bell County EMS, and Bell County Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
