On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at approximately 5:00pm Bell County Deputies Samson Churchwell and K-9 Keith Fuson were conducting a pre-approved traffic safety checkpoint at the junction of Ky-2014 and 2015.
The deputies were approached by a black sports bike which stopped in the middle of the road and made an illegal U-turn fleeing at a high rate of speed. The man was later identified as 41-year-old Virgil Brock of Pineville.
While attempting to catch up to Brock, Sgt. Jody Risner advised the bike turned on him and went up to the levy in the Wallsend community and then down the trail next to the river, headed towards the Newtown area.Â
Brock was then met by deputy Churchwell and refused several commands to get off the bike and show his hands, he then turned the bike around and headed back toward Wallsend.Â
