Possible drowning on Norris Lake

From 1450 WLAF -

Searchers continue combing the Cedar Creek area of Norris Lake for the body of a young Ohio man this evening after the report of a possible drowning came in Friday afternoon a little after 3 pm.

Not long after 5 pm Friday afternoon, one official told WLAF that the body had been recovered.  In fact, it was radioed in that it had after underwater equipment of the La Follette Rescue Squad made a discovery believed to be the body.

As a result, requested assistance from Anderson County and Jellico Rescue Squads was called off.  It was later learned that it was not a body that had been spotted.  However, before 8 pm, those squads were called back and are now on the scene near the Cedar Creek Bridge.

Mixed reports are that the 23-year old man fell from a boat while another said he jumped from the boat.

Other agencies on the scene are the Campbell County Rural Fire Service,  Campbell County EMS, and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department.
