From The Claiborne County Sheriff's Department -
Wednesday morning, April 24, 2019 Claiborne County Sheriff's Sgt. DeWayne Napier was dispatched to Springdale BP in Tazewell on an unresponsive male subject sitting inside a Jeep Cherokee.
Upon arrival, Sgt. Napier knocked on the window of the Jeep and made contact with the subject, 42 year old Andrew Hurst of Tazewell, Tn. After further observation, Sgt. Napier noticed what he believed to be drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle.
The sergeant asked Hurst to exit the vehicle after noticing he was reaching for something beside the seat, later found to be a .38 Smith & Wesson Revolver.
Andrew Hurst has been charged with driving on a suspended license, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Methamphetamines, possession of Schedule II controlled substance, possession of Schedule IV controlled substance & possession of firearm during the commission of a felony.
Hurst was lodged in the Claiborne County Jail.
