A video has surfaced following the arrest of a Knox County man recently on an assault charge.

39-year-old Michael Paul Mills of Scalf, Ky. was arrested on Wednesday, August 27, and charged with Assault 4th Degree (Domestic Violence). A video was released on Facebook, purportedly recorded by Boyd Mills, brother to Michael Paul Mills, showing the accused physically assaulting a juvenile. The arrest citation states that when deputies arrived for a welfare check, the juvenile stated he had been struck in the head by his father.

The video, which has been circulated across numerous social media outlets, has garnered much attention, including a planned protest by the juvenile’s mother. The event, calling for public support to protect her children, was organized by Holly Mills and was scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2. As of press time Tuesday evening, the protest had not occurred, and only an excuse of a broken-down car posted to one social media account indicated a delay.

The mother, Holly Mills, asserts that the man in question, Michael Paul Mills, was physically assaulting one of their sons. In the video, the child can be seen as being hit, and at one time vomiting after being struck in the head, yet Mills was only charged with Assault 4th Degree, not child abuse. Holly Mills recently spent time with “Clutch Your Pearls” host Justin Jensen, a true crime investigative media personality, to tell her side of the story in greater detail.

A dive into Michael Paul Mills’ arrest history indicates a pattern of multiple arrests for assault, terroristic threatening, and included charges of endangering the welfare of a minor, wanton endangerment, sexual abuse 1st degree – later amended down to sexual misconduct, and assault 4th degree - child abuse.

Michael Paul Mills was released on Saturday, August 30, on a $1,000 cash bond. He is scheduled for a pretrial conference in Knox District Court on September 9.
