From The Tazewell Tennessee Police Department -
On Friday, July 16, 2021 at approximately 4:25 pm Tazewell Police Department Officers and Claiborne EMS were dispatched to U.S. Highway 25E in front of the Dixie Plaza Motel for a motor vehicle accident where a semi tractor trailer struck a pedestrian.
Once on scene officers determined through investigation, and several witness statements including an off duty sergeant from the Tazewell Police Department, that the female victim ran across the highway directly into the path of the truck that was traveling southbound in the slow lane.
The driver of the semi attempted to stop and avoid the woman, but she was struck and came to rest on the shoulder.
The injured woman was transported to Claiborne Medical Center. Thankfully she was alert and oriented at the time of transport.
The names of the involved parties will not be released until the completion of the investigation.
