On Monday, June 8, 2026, Claiborne County Criminal Court Judge Zachary R. Walden sentenced the following offenders to Tennessee Department of Correction Custody:


Philip Bryant II plead guilty to one count of Aggravated Assault and was sentenced to six (6) years to be served in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Correction. The case was investigated by the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ashley N. Hamilton.


Devin Gulley plead guilty to one count of Evading Arrest (Risk of Death) and Resisting Arrest and was sentenced to a total of ten (10) years to be served in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Correction. The case was investigated by the New Tazewell and Tazewell Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Carla N. Brewer.


Bobby Lawson plead guilty to one count of Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer and was sentenced to a total of three (3) years to be served in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Correction. The case was investigated by the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Courtney H. Rickert.


Dalton Shurley plead guilty to one count of Aggravated Assault and numerous domestic violence related offenses and was sentenced to a total of three (3) years to be served in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Correction. The case was investigated by the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ashley N. Hamilton.


Joshua Love plead guilty to one count of Possession of Methamphetamine over .5 grams with Intent to Sell, one count of Possession of Sch. V Drugs with Intent to Sell, and one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was sentenced to a total of three (3) years to be served in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Correction. The case was investigated by the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Graham E. Wilson.


Ryan James Murdock plead guilty to one count of Evading Arrest (Risk of Death), Driving under the Influence, and Resisting Arrest and was sentenced to a total of three (3) years to be served in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Correction. The case was investigated by the New Tazewell Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Courtney H. Rickert.


Brandon Carraway plead guilty to one count of Aggravated Assault and one count of False Imprisonment and was sentenced to a total of five (5) years to be served in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Correction. The case was investigated by the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ashley N. Hamilton.
