Sheriff's detectives find four homemade bombs

Laurel Sheriff's office is investigating the discovery of four homemade bombs that were discovered on Wednesday night January 16, 2019 at approximately 10:30 PM at a residence off Riverside Springs Drive, approximately 3 miles South of London.


The bombs were discovered while Laurel Sheriff’s detectives were conducting a drug investigation there following information that was developed by the Sheriff’s office.


Individuals located at the residence have been interviewed and an investigation is continuing regarding the discovery of the devices. The Sheriff’s office requested the Kentucky State Police Hazardous Materials Unit to respond to the scene to assist in neutralizing the devices. Laurel Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Chris Edwards is the lead investigator with other investigators on scene who are assisting including for the Laurel County Sheriff’s office: Detective John Wright, Detective Kyle Gray, Detective Bryon Lawson, Deputy Jake Miller and his K-9 “ Gotcha”, Deputy Landry Collett, Deputy Allen Turner, and Deputy Travis Napier. Also assisting are KSP trooper’s from post #11 and Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms agents(A.T.F.). Photo of devices found attached to this report.
