Shooting investigation in Knox County leads to search for two Gray, Kentucky men

Wednesday, January 25, 2023 Knox County 911 received a complaint of a shooting in the Gray community.


LT Sam Mullins, SGT Bobby Jones, Deputy Jeremiah Williamson, and Deputy Mike Taylor, all responded.


Once on scene, deputies determined two males were involved in a verbal argument, leading to shots being fired. Deputies believe one male was possibly struck, however, both males fled the scene prior to the deputy's arrival.

Sheriff Mike Smith is asking for any assistance in locating both men who have been identified as 21-year-old Timothy J. Hollin and 39-year-old Ricky Lee Smith, both believed to reside in the Gray community. If you know the whereabouts of either men, Sheriff Smith asks you to contact the Knox County 911 at 606-546-3441 or 606-546-3510. All calls will be kept confidential and you can remain anonymous. Officer Detective Drew Wilson will be in charge of the investigation.


Kentucky State Police Post 10 and Barbourville Police Department assisted at the scene.
