Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that: on Tuesday April 23, 2019 at approximately 9:30 PM Clay County Chief Deputy Clifton Jones along with CSO Coty Arnold arrested an individual after receiving a complaint of a male subject on South Highway 421 operating a lawnmower on the main road.
Arrested was 35 year old Brian Smith of South Highway 421 when Chief Deputy Jones arrived on scene observing him operating the lawnmower on a property that he didn’t have permission to be on.
Upon contact with Smith a strong odor of alcohol was emitting from the subject. Chief Deputy Jones then performed field sobriety test on the subject in which he blew double the legal limit on the PBT.
While investigating the complaint, Smith was positively identified by Lockards Creek Fire Department Chief Dobber Weaver as the subject that burglarized and vandalized one of the trucks at the Fire Department.
Brian Smith was lodged in the Clay County Detention Center charged with: Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of ALC/DRUGS/ETC. .08 Criminal Trespass, 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief, 2nd Degree No Operators License Criminal Mischief, 2nd Degree (Lockards Creek Fire and Rescue) TBUT Or DISP All Others (Lockards Creek Fire and Rescue)
