Tazewell, Tn Police arrest local woman and charge her for Frostee Freeze burglary

From Tazewell Police Department -

Brooke Short-Jongeward - CCJ

Monday morning, August 22, 2022 at 2:04 a.m., Tazewell Police Officer Dylan Keck was dispatched to 1617 North Broad Street (Frostee Freeze Drive-In) in reference to a burglary in progress.

Officer Keck was on scene within a couple of minutes and located a broken window with a shovel sticking out. The officer spoke with a witness from McDonald’s who observed the burglary attempt, and stated that he had an altercation with the same female earlier.

During the conversation with the witness the suspected burglar was observed walking back toward the scene. Officer Keck made contact with 24-year-old Brooke Short-Jongeward of Tazewell, and shortly afterward a struggle ensued. Officer Keck successfully arrested Mrs. Short-Jongeward and retrieved video from the Frostee Freeze.

Through the investigation it was also determined that this individual was the same person Chief Jeremy Myers and Officer Jacob Melton had encountered at First Century Bank on Friday acting suspiciously.

Short-Jongeward was lodged in the Claiborne County Jail and charged with vandalism, resisting arrest, and petty theft.

All individuals are innocent until proven guilty
