Tennessee man arrested in Bell County after theft of semi-truck from Bristol

On Friday morning February 11, 2022, at approximately 5:06am, Bell County Dispatcher Cody Wilson received a call of a stolen semi-truck from Casey’s store on Highway 25E in Middlesboro. The vehicle was seen pulling onto the northbound lane of the highway. l


Responding to the call was Bell County Deputy Marti Messer who was able to stop the vehicle within the Pineville City limits with assistance from Pineville Officer Patrick Brooks and Deputy Ron Jordan.


The driver, identified as 48-year-old David Muncy of Bristol, Tn., was asked by Deputy Messer to exit the vehicle and he stated that he was driving the truck for someone else. After further investigation with the plate and VIN number being run by Dispatcher Wilson, the truck was reported stolen of Bristol, Tennessee.


Deputy Messer credits Dispatcher Wilson for bringing the situation to a quick and safe end.

David Muncy was arrested and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with receiving stolen property over $10,000 or more.
