Three Charged With Organized Crime In Bell County After Ransacking A Home

Sunday morning April 13th at 1:00am, Bell County Deputies Hunter Luttrell and Keith Fuson along with Pineville Officers Patrick Brooks and Justin Patterson responded to a call about a possible burglary at a Stoney Fork Road residence off Highway 221.

Found standing in the back door of the residence was 50-year-old Charles Jason Hoskins, but no one else at the time.  Officers searched the home to find it had been ransacked.

The homeowner arrived on scene stating they had been working on the home and had no knowledge of who Charles Hoskins was. Hoskins claimed a male and female, later identified as 47-year-old Angela Caldwell and 40-year-old Lester Smith both of Pineville, paid him $50.00 to give them a ride to the home.

Charles Hoskins was arrested and taken to the Bell County Detention Center.

The homeowner stayed in the house after officers left the scene. He states that he was sitting in a recliner when he heard something moving in the children’s room.  After investigating, the homeowner found Caldwell and Smith hiding in a pile of clothes inside a cupboard.  He held them at gunpoint and called 911 for the officers to return.

After their arrest, they were also booked in the Bell County Detention Center.

All three were charged with engaging in organized crime and burglary – 2nd degree.

Lester Smith was additionally served three failure to appear warrants, possession of Methamphetamine, and promoting contraband – 1st degree when he tried to bring Methamphetamine into the facility.
