Tigue Arrested Again For Offenses Involving Abuse Of A Child and Now The Mother

Police report that a man arrested in June of 2025 for child abuse offenses has been taken into custody once again.

According to the citation from Knox County Deputy David Dunn, 45-year old Shawn Tigue was arrested after he fled from them when they responded to a domestic violence call at a Sturgist Street address in Flat Lick on March 29th. Law enforcement responded to the victim's call of Tigue destroying her house and trying to fight with her with two minor children in the home.

Although Tigue was not home when officers arrived, they did observe damage in multiple rooms of the residence. The deputy also said that as Tigue returned to the address, he saw them, and fled the scene in his vehicle. He was apprehended a short time afterward in a cemetary in Flat Lick just off Ky 930 after he attempted to ram the deputy's vehicle which caused Dunn to collide with a guardrail.

The victim alleges that Tigue choked her and hit her 4-year-old child in the face and bruised his leg in the process. He has been charged with (2) counts of 4th degree assault, fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), reckless driving, 1st degree criminal mischief, no drivers license, strangulation - 2nd degree, and wanton endangerment - 1st degree (police officer).

It was noted that as Tigue was being transported to jail he became unresponsive due to a drug overdose. He was taken to Barbourville ARH Hospital for treatment and then released. He is lodged in the Knox County Detention Center. Assisting on scene were Barbourville Police Officers and Kentucky State Police Troopers.

As we previously reported, June 13, 2025, 44-year-old Tigue was arrested at a residence in Barbourville after it was reported to social services that a child of his girlfriend had marks on his body consistent with child abuse. In a citation from the Knox County Ky. Sheriff's Department, Tigue admitted to spanking the child with a belt two weeks prior to his arrest.

Tigue was lodged in the Knox County Ky Detention Center charged with assault 4th degree (child abuse).

His preliminary hearing on the current charges is set for Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
