From the Tazewell Police Department -
On Saturday, March 18, 2023, Tazewell Police Department Officer Dylan Browning conducted a traffic stop on U. S. Highway 25E at Pioneer Auto Parts. The vehicle being operated by 36-year-old Rodney Walker, had no registration displayed and the driver was making erratic stops in the highway, then suddenly pulled into the parking lot.
After making contact with the driver Walker told the officer he had no license and when he was asked if anything illegal was in the vehicle he told the officer he had Marijuana in the car.
Officer Jacob Melton arrived to assist Officer Browning, and after a search of Walker he was found to have (20) twenty Xanax pills on his person along with Marijuana.
A female passenger later identified as 20-year-old Jazzmen Ruiz was found to have both Methamphetamine and Marijuana on her person.
Both were transported to The Claiborne County Jail where Walker was found in possession of 53.62 grams of Methamphetamine on his person in his genital area. Approximately $460.00 in cash, scales and individual baggies were also recovered in the incident.
Rodney Walker is charged with the following:
Possession of Schedule IV for Resale Possession of Schedule VI for Resale Driving on Revoked License Unregistered Vehicle Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Financial Responsibility Introduction into a Penal Facility Possession of Methamphetamine with intent to resale.
Jazzmen Ruiz is charged with the following:
Possession of Methamphetamine for resale Possession of Schedule VI Underage Consumption Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Police Chief Jeremy Myers praises his officers saying "Great job to these hard working officers of the TPD."
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
