On Thursday, October 06, 2022, K-9 Sgt. Elijah Hunter and Public Affairs Officer Steven Hill seized approximately sixteen grams of suspected Methamphetamine and cash following a traffic stop.
50-year-old Melissa K. Byrd, of Jellico, TN was arrested and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center charged with trafficking in a controlled substance - 1st degree (Methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance - 3rd degree, possession of Marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and several motor vehicle violations. She was also served with a warrant for non-payment of fines.
