A Claiborne County man is heading to trial on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, to answer for over a hundred sexual offense charges involving children.

32-year-old Daniel Jack Goins of Tazewell was indicted by the Claiborne County Grand Jury in 2023 on five counts of the “continuous sexual abuse of a child and one count of aggravated rape.”

He was previously indicted in April 2020 for over a hundred similar offenses involving crimes against children. He was released on bond a short time after his release.

At one point Goins fled the state only to be found later in 2023 in Kokomo, Indiana, after the Tazewell Police Department and Howard County Sheriff’s Office worked together to arrest him. He was then extradited back to Claiborne County on September 20, 2023, by Tazewell Lt. Detective Josh Fields and Police Chief Jeremy Myers.

Both the Tazewell and New Tazewell Police Departments investigated multiple cases regarding Goins' arrest.

He is currently out on bond.
