Two county vehicle pursuit

On Friday, February 28, 2020 at around 1 A.M., Officer Rob Mitchell with Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement conducted a traffic stop on a 2020 black Jeep Wrangler for speeding on I-75 southbound near the 34-mile marker in Laurel County Kentucky.


Upon approaching the vehicle and conducting a driver interview, officer Mitchell smelled and odor of marijuana. The driver retrieved a small amount of marijuana from the console and then took off leading officer Mitchell on a high-speed chase down I-75. Speed reached excess of 100 MPH and continued into Whitley County where the suspect got off Exit 25 to Corbin and continued down the Cumberland Falls Highway turning onto Scuffletown Road. As the suspect reached 5th street and Scuffletown he stopped the vehicle and was taken into custody.


Officer Mitch charged 21-year-old Kenaree Estes, of Jackson Michigan with Speeding, No Operators License, Possession of Marijuana, DUI, Fleeing or Evading Police 1st and disregarding traffic control devices. Estes was lodged on the Laurel County Detention Center.


Assisting: CVE Officers Mike Hamblin, Chris McQueen and Sgt. Glenn Perry Officer Mitchell continues the investigation.
