Updated: Aug 23, 2023

From WRIL The Big One -

Early Tuesday morning August, 22, 2023, a short time after midnight, Claiborne County Deputies Jordan White, Cindy O'Mary, and Sgt. Shawn Noah were dispatched to a Clayton Reece Lane residence in regard to an alleged assault.

Once on scene, the deputies made contact with the victim and two of her friends. The victim was interviewed by Deputy O'Mary due to the inability to communicate with a male.

The victim told the deputy that she and her boyfriend, identified as 25-year old Dalton Shurley of Tazewell, were with a male identified as 20-year-old Breden Greer also of Tazewell, at his home.

An argument broke out between the victim and the two men which turned physical and she ended up on the ground. The victim further stated that Greer held her legs down while Shurley was striking her in the head with his foot. She was able to get away from the men and run from the scene where she then called two friends to pick her up on the side of the road.

The deputies noted multiple wounds on the victim including a knot on her head, scratch on her neck and leg, a bruise on the back of her neck, a bruise on her knee, a nose bleed, and the right side of her head was swollen causing her not to be able to answer simple questions. Claiborne EMS also responded to treat and transport the victim to the hospital.

Both Braden Greer and Dalton Shurley were arrested and lodged in the Claiborne County Jail charged with aggravated assault and aggravated kidnapping.
