Unwanted advances lead to the arrest of a Speedwell, Tn man

According to the citation, on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 New Tazewell Officer William Prewitt was dispatched to a North Broad Street residence in New Tazewell in regard to an assault.


Once on scene Officer Prewitt made contact with the female victim who stated that she and 35 year old Christopher B. Saylor of Speedwell were drinking and socializing.


After an hour had passed, the homeowner asked Saylor to leave because he touched the woman in a sexual manner multiple times after being told to stop. The woman states that Saylor became angry and went to his vehicle, but did not leave the property.


The woman went on to say that after a few minutes she noticed that her cell phone and wallet were missing. She went outside to talk with Saylor about the missing items and upon entering his vehicle he had the firearm in his hands threatening to kill himself. The woman then attempted to leave the vehicle, but Saylor grabbed her arm then pulled her cell phone case without the phone in it. She also told Officer Prewitt that Saylor grabbed her face and attempted to kiss her.


The vehicle then began to move towards the highway and she was able to jump out to escape. She states that Saylor did not stop the vehicle and ran over her foot before turning onto the highway leaving the area.


Christopher Saylor was arrested on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 and lodged in the Claiborne County Jail charged with sexual battery, aggravated assault, and theft of property.
