From Kentucky State Police Post 10 -
On February 6, 2024, Kentucky State Police, Post 10 received a call of a single vehicle collision on Carroll Drive in the Baxter community of Harlan County.
The investigation indicates a 2007 Dodge pickup, operated by 82-year-old John Howard, was traveling on Carroll Drive when he entered a vacant wooded lot and struck a tree, this caused the vehicle to overturn on its top.
The Harlan Rescue Squad responded to assist KSP along with the Harlan County Coroner. John Howard was pronounced deceased at the scene. Trooper Jake Spurlock continues the investigation.
