Whitley County man indicted for DUI, will not face manslaughter charge in niece’s death

A Whitley County man who accidentally struck and killed his 6-year-old niece in February, will not face a manslaughter charge brought against him.


This is after a true bill was not returned on 40-year-old Christopher Mullins of Williamsburg when he was arrested on February 26th after Whitley County deputies responded to the tragic call.


At the time, the investigation lead by Sheriff’s Deputy Tim Baker determined that Mullins was under the influence and he was careless when he backed up by not looking behind the vehicle.


Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley pronounced the child dead at Baptist Health in Corbin.

While Mullins was released from the Whitley County Detention Center on Monday the 16th, he will still face the DUI charge 1st offense.


His next appearance will be Monday, June 27th.
