February 14, 2022 Update: Through further investigation, Detectives determined that Chad Alexander Nolan had been in possession of the vehicle prior to the search and an arrest warrant was obtained and served. Lab results confirmed over 4.6 ounces of Methamphetamine, Fentanyl pills, Xanax and Buprenorphine. The Fentanyl pills were identical in color, shape and markings to Oxycodone pills.

29-year-old Nolan of Evarts was charged with Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Greater than 2 Grams of Methamphetamine, Trafficking in Controlled Substance (Fentanyl), Trafficking in Controlled Substance 2nd Degree and Trafficking in Controlled Substance 3rd Degree.
Previous release: On Monday, January 10, 2022 detectives with Appalachia Narcotics Investigations and Deputies from the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office were conducting an investigation into illegal narcotics trafficking in Harlan County. A vehicle of interest was searched and approximately 4.6 ounces of crystal meth, a large number of pills included suspected xanax, oxycodone, and suboxone, along with over $1,000 in cash was discovered in the vehicle. Detectives are continuing the investigation and arrests are expected.
