From WRIL - The Big One -

Sunday morning March 31st at 11:57am, Kentucky State Police responded to the call of a man's body being found by a family member in the city of Cumberland behind the public library.

Harlan County Deputy Coroner Dale Halcomb states that 44-year-old Lonnie Tippett was pulled from the river behind the library. He was pronounced deceased at 12:35pm.

Halcomb also states that it appears Tippett was fishing in the area, but "as of now no one witnessed him going in the water."

A death investigation was started once troopers arrived on scene.

Trooper Shane Jacobs tells us that there was nothing suspicious and no foul play is suspected. Tippett's body was taken to Frankfort for an autopsy at the State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine an exact cause of death.

Also assisting on scene was Coroner John Derrick Noe, Cumberland Fire Department, Cumberland Police Department, and Lifeguard Ambulance Service.
