Roy D. Sanders - BCDC

On Wednesday May 1, 2024, Bell County Deputies were called to a Mills Hunter Road residence in Pineville where a woman's ex-boyfriend, identified as 47-year-old Roy D. Sanders refused to leave the home.

Upon arrival Deputies Luttrell and Churchwell made contact with the daughter of the woman who stated she was the caller after her mother texted her to call police because she was afraid of Sanders. The daughter also stated that Sanders had previously served a sentence for assaulting the woman.

Deputies then attempted to call Sanders out of the residence with assistance from Pineville Officer Brooks and Kentucky State Police. That is when the woman came to the door saying Sanders was not in the home, but motioned to officers that he was still inside. The victim then came out of the home advising Sanders was in the the house, but threatened her not to tell officer. She said he had run to the back bedroom. Deputies continued to call out Sanders on the intercom and he finally surrendered, exiting the residence where he was then arrested.

The investigation determined that the woman had been assaulted inside the home and Sanders refused to leave. The victim also stated that she had knowledge of Sanders having a handgun in his possession and after a search of the closet in the bedroom he ran to, a 9mm Highpoint was found in a pile of clothing.

Roy Sanders was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, burglary - 1st degree, unlawful imprisonment - 1st degree, tampering with physical evidence, and assault - 4th degree dating violence (minor injury).
