Call of someone setting a fire leads to a Middlesboro woman's arrest

On Tuesday, June 8, 2021 Middlesboro Police Officer Christopher Barnes was dispatched to McDonalds on Highway 25E. The caller stated that a female with a blue hoodie was outside the business setting the dumpster on fire.


Upon arrival, the officer saw a woman matching the description given by the caller shouting, screaming, and talking to people that were not there. Officer Barnes also states in the citation that he saw smoke coming from the dumpster.


While attempting to take the individual into custody, she began to fight the officer and get away.


She was arrested and later identified as 43-year-old Jessica L. Rench of Middlesboro.


Rench was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with resisting arrest, criminal mischief – 2nd degree, disorderly conduct, and public intoxication – controlled substance.
