Cumberland Gap Man Indicted For Fetal Homicide Also Facing Other Charges

Detective Hunter Lutrell presented evidence to the Bell County Grand Jury, which returned a true bill on February 6, 2026, indicting 35-year-old Taylor C. Dehart.


The single count indictment charges Dehart with Fetal Homicide in the 1st degree by intentionally causing the death of an unborn child by repeatedly physically abusing the pregnant mother, inflicting blunt force trauma to her abdomen, and placental abdomen, and ultimately the death of the unborn child.


On Friday, February 13, 2026, at approximately 6:00am the United States Marshals Service (USMS) Eastern District of Kentucky (E/KY) Central Kentucky Fugitive Task Force (CKFTF) London Office, along with Bell County (KY) Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), USMS Eastern District of Tennessee (E/TN) Smokey Mountain Fugitive Task Force (SMFTF) Knoxville Office, Blount County (TN) Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) SWAT & K9 Units, and Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office, conducted an enforcement operation as a result of fugitive investigation on the 100 block of Antler Drive in Cumberland Gap, TN.


 As a result of that operation, Taylor Dehart was taken into custody without incident. Dehart was not only wanted regarding the indictment warrant, but also for Failure To Appear (FTA) for Assault – 4th Degree, (2) two Kentucky Department of Corrections –Probation Violations, and by the State of Georgia Department of Community Supervision (DCS) for a Probation Violation on original charges of Armed Robbery.


 Taylor Dehart was transported to Claiborne County (TN) Jail, where he is awaiting extradition to Bell County, KY.


All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
