From The Middlesboro Police Department -
On Tuesday February 9, 2021 approximately 7:30 pm, Middlesboro Officers were dispatched at 12 E Happy Hollow apartments in reference to a domestic incident.
Upon K-9 Sgt. Harvey Johnson's arrival, he spoke to the complainant Gelena Smith who stated that she was in a verbal argument with her boyfriend 37-year-old Benjamin Mark Jones. Ms. Smith also stated that during the argument with Mr. Jones he started assaulting her by wrapping his arm around her neck, choking her and restricting her airway.
Benjamin Jones also had a active probation violation warrant for his arrest taken out by Parole Board of Commonwealth of Kentucky for absconding parole supervision by failing to complete treatment for substance abuse.
Benjamin Mark Jones arrested and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with strangulation - 2nd degree and he was served a parole violation warrant.
