Impaired driver loses control of her vehicle crashing into a tree in Middlesboro

A short time before 7pm, there was a single-vehicle accident on Gum Springs Road in Middlesboro. The driver of a black mustang was driving too fast, lost control of the vehicle, and crashed into a tree.


Responding to the scene was the Middlesboro Police Department and Middlesboro Fire/EMS. Officer Ryan Collins states in his citation that upon contact with the driver, 50-year-old Gina Stinson of Middlesboro, she was exhibiting signs of being impaired.


Stinson refused medical treated and was found to have outstanding warrants for a previous driving under the influence and traffic violations. She was also not wearing a seat belt and had expired registration tags.


Stinson was administered partial standard field sobriety tests, but refused to continue the procedure and refused a blood test.


Gina Stinson was arrested and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – 1st degree (aggravated circumstances), failure to notify address to the Department of Transportation, no registration plates, failure to register transfer of motor vehicle, no registration receipt, failure to wear seat belt, and she was served the outstanding warrant.
