London, Ky. (March 17, 2019) – On Saturday, March 16, 2019 at approximately 6:20 PM, Kentucky State Police Post 11, London received a call from Baptist Health Corbin Hospital advising that a pregnant adult female had been brought to the ER with a gunshot wound and requested police.
Upon arrival, KSP Detectives learned Geri D. Johnson, 29, of Williamsburg had died as a result of an apparent gunshot wound. Johnson was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The infant was delivered and transferred to the University of Kentucky Medical Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and was listed in critical condition.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unclear and still under investigation at this time.
Johnson’s body has been taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy that has been scheduled for today.
KSP Detective Jessie Armstrong is continuing the investigation. He was assisted by Troopers from Post 11, Corbin Police Department and Whitley County Sheriff’s Office.
