Lee County Virginia man charged with murder after sheriff's department finds man shot in the face

According to Sheriff Gary Parsons, the Lee County Sheriff's Department recently received a call in regard to a possible gunshot on Jesse Peters Drive in the Dryden community.


Responding to the address was Lt. Chris Oakley and Sgt. Roger Gates who found 24-year-old Timothy Tomlinson standing on the roof. Tomlinson was asked to come down and told the officers he had a gun and shot at an individual but didn't know if he hit him. Tomlinson stated that the two men worked together and had a fight prior to the shooting and both had been drinking.


The officers then walked out to the front yard where they located the body of a male subject who had what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the face and that he was deceased. The individual was identified has 48-year-old Shawn Nutting of South Carolina.


After an interview, the scene being processed, and evidence collected, Timothy Tomlinson was lodged in the Duffield Regional Jail charged with Murder - 1st degree. He is being held without bond.
