Updated: Jun 13, 2019

From WRIL -

On Tuesday June 11, 2019 Middlesboro Dispatch received a call of a small child was left unattended inside a residence at Pinnacle Homes. Responding to the scene were officers Joel Quillen, Nick Capps, Harvey Johnson, and Sgt. Josh Burchett who were able to see the child through the window of the residence. The officers knocked and got no response.

A maintenance employee was contacted and the door was opened revealing the three year old child with no food or drink and what the citation states as open knives on the kitchen table. The officers also state that the child had a diaper that had not been changed in some time which caused a severe diaper rash.

A description of the vehicle was broadcast through dispatch and it was located at a residence on Winchester Avenue. The parents of the child, identified as 36 year old Kimberly Craig and 34 year old Samuel Johnson, were found at the home under the influence. Kimberly Craig claimed that the three year old had only been by herself for twenty minutes.

Both Craig and Johnson were arrested and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with abandonment of a minor. Kimberly Craig also had an outstanding warrant for court.
