Early Thursday morning February 12th Middlesboro Police responded to multiple complaints of damage to local businesses near the Village Square Shopping Center. The first was at Ace Hardware where video surveillance showed an individual, later identified as 32-year-old Travis Seals, ramming a shopping cart into the front sliding door, breaking the glass. Also found was damage to two mowers and other products sitting at the front of the business.
At 1:15am Middlesboro Officer Jake Partin responded to a call at Dollar General East on Dansbury Avenue regarding damage to the store. The manager told the officer that she had security video of a man ramming a grocery cart into the front door and ice box of the business, damaging both.
Then at 1:36am while on patrol, Captain Joe Holder was flagged down in the Village Square Shopping Center by employees from Long John Silvers wanting to file a complaint. They reported damage to the drive-thru speaker, dumpster box, and attempted damage to the front door of the business. Security video showed an individual ramming a shopping cart into the front glass door trying to gain entry.
Seals was later found at Walmart still in possession of the damaged shopping cart and wearing the same clothing seen in the security videos.Â
Travis Seals was initially arrested by Officer Josh Burchett and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with (2) two counts of criminal mischief – 2nd degree, one count of criminal mischief – 1st degree, attempted burglary – 3rd degree, he was also served with outstanding warrants for failure to appear, non-payment of fines, and a pay or stay.
