Middlesboro Welfare Check Nets Wanted Fugitive And Drugs

On Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 6:37pm Middlesboro Police were requested for a welfare check on two juveniles at a west Cumberland Avenue residence. Responding was Sgt. Jeremiah Johnson, Captain Joe Holder, and Officer Jake Partin.


Once on scene the mother of the children gave consent to enter the home to check living conditions and she also gave consent to search for illegal substances. Also in the home was 50-year-old James Partin.


Found in the bedroom where Partin was located was approximately one ounce of a white rock-like substance believed to be Methamphetamine, a green leafy substance believed to be Marijuana, a digital scale, and other paraphernalia. Sgt. Johnson stated in the citation that Partin "freely stated the illicit drugs belonged to him."


The drugs were located in the home with another adult female and two juveniles ages 3 and 10. Social services was contacted and placed the children with an appropriate family member.


James Partin was arrested and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with trafficking in controlled substance - 1st degree, 1st offense (greater than 2 grams Methamphetamine), buying/possessing drug paraphernalia, possession of Marijuana, and he also was wanted out of Claiborne County, TN.
