New executive order and curfew for Virginia residents starting Monday, December 14

Governor Ralph Northam

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam announced new COVID-19 restrictions Thursday, December 10, 2020, including a modified stay-at-home order from midnight to 5 a.m.


Northam is also limiting social gatherings to 10 people, down from the current limit of 25. The new restrictions to go into place Monday, December 14, at 12:01 a.m.


Those people who are going to or from work will be exempt. These measures will remain in effect until at least January 31. Northam added that people should stay at home whenever possible.


Northam cited that cases have been rising recently. Hospitalization rates have risen by 80 percent over the last four weeks, Northam added.
