Missing Whitley County man found alive - being treated for hypothermia

UPDATE: Walter Dewayne Dale was found close to the area he had gone missing. He was airlifted from the scene to a hospital for treatment of possible hypothermia.


Post 11 London is assisting Kentucky State Park Ranger Division, who are actively working a missing person investigation at the Cumberland Falls State Park Resort located in Whitley and McCreary Counties. 

A Golden Alert D has been issued for Walter Dewayne Dale, 35, of Williamsburg, KY.  He was last seen in the area of the Eagle Falls trailhead around 4:00 PM yesterday evening, January 14, 2024.  Mr. Dale is travelling on foot and is described as a white male, 5’8”, roughly 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.  He was last seen wearing a camouflage jacket, blue jeans carrying a black backpack. 

Anyone with information about a possible location of Walter Dewayne Dale is asked to immediately contact the Kentucky State Police, Post 11, at 606 - 878-6622.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Kentucky State Park Ranger Gerald Bisschop.
