Pineville Police Arrest Adult Attempting to Meet Juvenile for Sex

On Saturday, May 23, 2026, at approximately 7:00pm Pineville Police Officer Patrick Brooks and Chief Brandon Hollingsworth responded to a complaint of an adult attempting to meet up with what he thought was a 14-year-old female.
Upon arrival the officer states that he made contact with the caller who presented messages from an app called “Meet Me”, as well as text messages sent via telephone.
In the messages, 43-year-old James Michael Gwinner of Pineville was advised multiple times that the account and phone number he was communicating with was the 14-year-old. Gwinner still scheduled to meet with the individual at the Newtown park/playground Saturday evening the 23rd.
Additionally, in the conversation Gwinner sent a picture of his genitals and sexual activity to the individual. He also stated different types of explicit sexual contact that he wanted to engage in with the juvenile.
At 7:03pm officers observed Gwinner at the location of the arranged meeting and took him into custody.
He was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with procuring or promoting the use of a minor by electronic means, sexual abuse – 1st degree, and distribution of obscene matter to minors – 1st offense.
