On Thursday, June 20, 2019 at approximately 11:30 pm Deputy Mikey Ashurst observed a vehicle coasting with its engine turned off on Highway 225 on Kay Jay Mountain.
When the driver,later identified as 37 year old Rosie Jean Girdner of Pineville, saw the patrol car, she started the vehicle and attempted to flee in reverse back up the mountain.
When Deputy Ashurst caught up with the vehicle, he observed Girdner attempting to hide something in the floor. After checking her, Deputy Ashurst observed a clear plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine and two syringes in the floor of the vehicle.
Girdner was then arrested and charged with Fleeing or Evading Police-2nd Degree, Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, No Insurance, Failure to Wear Seat Belts and Improper Registration Plates.
She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
