On Thursday August 10, 2023, at 7:54am, there was a fatal accident on Highway 25E in Tazewell, Tennessee near Reece Monument company.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol’s preliminary report determined that a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by 43-year-old Rebecca Rielly of Tennessee was traveling southbound on the highway. A 2017 BMW X5 driven by 58-year-old Annette Hensley, also of Tennessee, was traveling northbound.
The Trooper in charge of the case states that Ms. Rielly entered into the center turning lane, crossing over the center line and then into the northbound lanes, striking Ms. Hensley head on.
While Annette Hensley was injured in the accident and taken to a hospital via ambulance, Rebecca Rielly died in the collision.
Responding was Claiborne County EMS, Claiborne County Sheriff's Department, TNT Fire/EMS, North Tazewell Fire Department, Harrogate Fire Department, Tazewell Police Department, Tennessee Department of Transportation, and multiple Tennessee Highway Patrol Officers.
According to the THP charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
