Monday afternoon September 14, 2020 Bell County Sheriff’s Deputy Frank Foster made a traffic stop on a 2003 Gold Saturn at the Highway 119 car wash in regard to a theft investigation.

The driver, 36-year-old Don Johnson of Middlesboro, gave Deputy Foster incorrect information when asked for his identity, but was verified shortly afterward and found to have seven outstanding warrants.

One of the complaint warrants had been taken out by Pineville Officer Bill Matthews for theft of a vehicle $10,000 or more but under $1 million, another was out of Knox County for unauthorized use of a vehicle, and theft by unlawful taking under $500.00.

Johnson was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with giving an officer false information, operating on a suspended license, and no insurance. He was served the two complaint warrants, and five bench warrants.
