UPDATE: Multi-Fatality Accident In Harlan County - Victims Identified

On Sunday evening July 6, 2025 a short time before 7:00pm there was a multi-fatality accident involving two vehicles on Highway 119 just north of the four-lane in Cumberland, Ky.
Once on scene, it was determined two vehicles collided which resulted in the deaths and injuries of several individuals. In one passenger vehicle were five occupants - two adults and three children.
In the other vehicle, a Chevrolet pickup truck , a lone occupant. Harlan County Coroner John Noe tells us that two individuals, identified as 24-year-old Trey Stewart and his 9-year-old daughter Kieranne Elaine Smith both of Partridge Kentucky, died at the scene.
The three other passengers in the car, two children and another adult, were air-lifted to Tennessee hospitals for injuries. The female adult was air-lifted to Johnson City Tennessee Trauma center and is undergoing surgery according to family members.
The driver of the pickup truck was also air-lifted to a hospital for treatment of injuries,.
Also responding to the scene were the Cumberland Fire Department, Cumberland Police Department, Harlan County Sheriff's Office, Harlan County Rescue Squad, and Lifeguard Ambulance Service have responded.
