Police agencies from the Clay County Sheriff's Department, Manchester City Police and Kentucky State Police are asking the public to stay away from an area off U.S. 421 south and around the Elk Creek area while they search for two men involved in the shooting of a female.
The shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. with a female being shot in the leg with a 4-10 sawed off shotgun.
The alleged shooters fled the scene on foot and entered the hills around the US 421 entrance of the Clay-Leslie Industrial Park. A manhunt is now underway for two men and they are described as not wearing shirts and one has tattoos on his chest.
The female has a severe injury, according to reports.
The Big Creek Fire and Rescue Squad has been called out to shut down the roadway in both directions.
The men are considered armed and dangerous.
