Saturday night November 23, 2019 at approximately 6:44pm Middlesboro Dispatch received a call from Walmart of two suspicious males inside the general merchandise side of the store in the lobby. Responding to the store were Officers Chris Barnes and Dakota Torstrick.

As the officers entered the store, one of the men was recognized by Officer Barnes as 27 year old Ronnie Minton of Middlesboro. The officer had experience with Minton and was known to have outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Officer Barnes began patting down Minton during the confirmation of warrants from Dispatch. As he was being placed under arrest, he turned jerking away attempting to run from the store and struck Officer Torstrick in the chest trying to get out the front door.

Barnes then turned and was able to apprehend Minton and he began to fight both officers until he was brought under control and detained. During the struggle several customers were almost engaged in the actions by Minton.

Ronnie Minton was arrested and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with assault – 3rd degree on a police or probation officer, disorderly conduct – 2nd degree, resisting arrest, and fleeing or evading police – 2nd degree (on foot). He was also served four outstanding warrants.

He is being held without bond.
